Container lashing becomes important if there is space between the cargo and container doors. While transportation by sea the container experiences movements and empty spaces can result in damaged cargo. End lashing is an effective means of unitizing the cargo and thereby preventing movements. In this photo the empty spaces between pallets has been eliminated using air bags and then end lashing has been done. The lashing arrangement in this photo consists of double loops of 25mm cord-strap along with metallic buckles. The system strenth is around 8,000 kilos. Wooden bracing can also be done to prevent such movement.
